Who to send me
The person I’m unusually useful to is capable, experienced, and has usually had plenty of good advice already.
What changed is that knowing the right thing stopped being enough.
You’ll recognise the gap between what they know and what they can reach when it counts:
- They can describe the pattern accurately. The pattern continues.
- You’ve worked the same issue for months. Nothing moves.
- They’re excellent at nine in the morning and someone else by the third hard conversation.
- They keep circling one decision and can’t tell you what’s stopping them.
- Everything is ready except them.
- They got what they wanted and can’t inhabit the life on the other side.
It rarely looks like a crisis. Usually nobody would call it one. That’s why it can go unaddressed for years.
Who not to send me
- Someone who needs a strategy, a plan, or an expert opinion.
- Someone looking for a framework, model, or system.
- Someone in acute distress who needs clinical care.
What happens
It starts with a conversation. No form, no assessment, no intake.
Then one working session. They bring the real problem. They don’t leave with another plan or something new to understand. They leave with the answer in the body: able to access something that, until then, they could only understand. That’s the work, and it happens in the first session.
Anything after that builds from there.
If you want words for it
When you have been in the room for the problem
I’ve got someone for the thing we keep coming back to.
When the structure is done and the person isn’t
The structure is fine. I know someone who works on the part that isn’t.
When you’d rather say more
I know someone who works with very capable people at the point where knowing what to do has stopped being enough. He isn’t going to sell you a framework. Have one conversation.
Two people who have been through it
“What I was expecting was more information. More concepts, more something I was thinking about. Instead it was a foundational shift that changed how things looked, felt and seemed to me. Even after that first experience, it’s something I can shift into, something I can access.”
Tivo Rojas-Cheatham, MPH, CPCC, Executive Career Coach
“Although I was already highly functioning, successful and generally happy, I had some deficiencies in my mental and emotional operating system preventing me from recognizing my full potential. Devon’s combined impact on my mental, emotional and physical function helped me realign.”
John Barnes, Managing Director, JP Morgan
Sending someone
Introduce us directly, or tell them to write. Either works. If you want to check the fit first, write to me and describe what you’re seeing.
